Retrieving lost LTC. Clarifying questions

So, I've decided to dig up my LTC grave again. I'm faced with the dreaded "The passphrase entered for the wallet decryption was incorrect".

I bought the original LTC back in 2013 and decided to sell at the peak a few years ago which is when I first hit this roadblock.

*Am I correct in saying this passphrase could be anything? i.e. no pattern of requirements *The passphrase and password are the same thing right? *I realise how stupid this seems but having another shot at getting them. I'll happily send a few LTC the way of anyone that helps me access them!
