Again tonight there was an instance of a nominally price-related post being vanished by an overzealous mod. That the post garnered a bunch of comments and dozens of upvotes in the short time it was visible should come as no surprise, since the price action is of interest to many members here. Especially at an exciting time like this.
It's absurd that we aren't allowed to discuss the value of XTZ, something that concerns every XTZ holder, yet it's considered fair game for nearly identical posts about staking rewards and ICO wallet recovery to clutter up the sub again and again. It clearly shows that "cutting down on spam" is not the real reason for the moratorium on price discussion.
But the lawsuit is over; we can all stop pretending that we don't want to make a profit on Tezos. In any event, it's bizarre to talk about staking rewards without being able to mention—or if we don't care about—the value of those rewards. Moreover, given its direct bearing on the size of the Tezos Foundation's war chest (and therefore the available runway for the entire ecosystem), we should be free to discuss the price of XTZ the way members of /r/zec and other subs discuss the price of their favored crypto assets.
To the extent spam is a concern, I'm fully in favor of confining price discussion to a single weekly thread, if that's what it takes. A weekly general discussion thread would be a benefit to the sub in any case.
So what do you all say? Who's in favor of rethinking the existing content restrictions?
TL;DR: The arguments for banning price discussion in any form are unsound, and we should change these restrictive content rules by popular consent.
